Geography

The aim of geography at Marden Lodge is to provide an engaging and motivating curriculum which develops knowledge and understanding of the world around us through the key areas of human and physical Geography. Learning about the world takes forward children’s understanding and appreciation of places, of their importance to us, of our impact on them and how we can manage and protect our world.

Teaching geography should equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people and resources and natural and physical environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.

Our curriculum links closely to our pupil’s local environment, utilizes the local area and encourages the life skills of map reading and fieldwork. Some topics have been chosen to engage children’s curiosity about new places and environments while encouraging them to investigate all areas of the geography curriculum.
